The Malta Mini Owners Club was established in 1997.
The Club caters for all types of models starting from the Mini 850, Cooper, Cooper S, pick-ups, Rover mini Spi, Era, Quarter mile racers, custom models and much more.
We try to make as much contact and exposure as much as possible in fact we have contacts with foreign clubs in the U.K.,Germany, Netherlands and Sicily. We meet every 1st Sunday of the month in Ta'Xbiex near the Black Pearl Restaurant for a mini run to Towns and villages around the island.

We usually have a Concours D'elegance twice a year. Sometimes we also make mini runs to our neighbour island of Gozo; We had also the opportunity to make mini runs to Sicily in past events and took part in a car show there.
We also had the opportunity to take part in the last year's Grande Prix de Malta and joined in with other local clubs in the Malta Motor Sport Federation

Meetings

Every last Wednesday of the month. Meeting place is at Luxol grounds Pembroke. During these meetings we discuss the upcoming events organized by our club and all invitations from other clubs, councils and other organizations, taking decisions on on all of our events and each committee member responsibilities for each event. We also discuss the club's financial progress plus any news related to the mini world.

Shows

Concourse D'elegance
There are mainly 4 types of categories:
  • Early Type 1959-1969
  • Mini 1970 Onwards
  • Mini Custom Modified
  • Mini Heavy Custom Modified
Static Shows
Static shows are held in various places and any type of mini is welcomed. Go to upcoming events to check dates and locality

Autotest
This type of race, although it is a timed race, is a non speeding event and the Championship runs on 6 races. Every race consists of two different tracks made out of cones and include reverse in certain tracks. Each driver have to race twice on the same track and the best of two times will be taken. Any type of mini can take part in this event.

Mini Runs
We meet at Ta' Xbiex by Black Pearl at 9am every first Sunday of the month. Around 9.45 we all leave to a destination agreed that same day or to a show that we have been invited

Bodywork
Condition of smoothness of body.
Gaps between panels including bonnet, luggage booth, doors alignment.
All accessories should be standard according to year and model, and should be present such as water deflectors, corner strips (mouldings), front valance, running board, and rear grease nipple cover.
Original colour as per factory colour scheme.

Engine Bay
Clean engine bay having the same body colour and degreased including bonnet (underside).
Engine colour (original engine specifications.
Ancillaries; distributor, master cylinders ,solenoid switch ,alternator/dynamo ,cut out switch ,air cleaners ,horn ,wiring loom neatly routed ,wiper motor ,rocker cover breather ,windscreen washer bottle ,badges and stickers on rocker cover ,sound deadener on fire wall ,distributor water guard ,plastic guard to protect high tension cables (on modern Mini's)

Interior
Dashboard, binnacle surround, dash mat, correct meters, switches and switch panel (colour coded), chrome screws 4 in number for oval binnacle ( MKI only), and ashtray corresponding to model
Carpets and headlining according to body colour and year of manufacture including sun visors, interior light and parcel shelf.
Door cards (rear and front), pocket liners (Cooper MKI,850 De Luxe, Cooper MKII carpet finisher)
Front and rear seats according to year and body colour.
Correct steering wheel and centre badge, door handles, window winders, pocket trims, check straps (colour coded).Optional factory items are considered as standard equipment, steering column shroud (column bracket and gear leaver chrome for Cooper and Cooper S).
Floor dip switch/starter switch, direction indicator with bulb.
Luggage booth must be clean, correct spare tyre, wheel brace and jack, battery cover and bracket, booth boards included with brackets and booth lid cover (where applicable).

Exterior Trim
All bright work.
Original badges.
Correct headlamps and tail lights (bee-hive glass indicators).
Door handles and booth handles.
Wheel standard and wheel finisher where applicable.
Factory optionals, period items are allowed but are not necessary.
Bumpers and over-riders:- MKI (corner bars), MKII (no corner bars).
Grille:- MKI Morris 7 slats, Austin 11 slats.
Correct fuel caps.
Luggage booth.
Doors surround chrome.
Correct quarter window hinges.

Loss of Marks
Marks will be deducted from section or overall markings, as the judge sees fit, due to:
Dirt around any part of the vehicle
Any loose article left in the vehicle which is not part of the same vehicle
Any dents, bumps, waves in metal or damaged bodywork or spray.
Any incorrect parts on original versions only.
Any damaged parts in any part of the vehicle.
Any eyesore parts or incompatible parts in any part of the vehicle


Light Modified

Bodywork Condition of smoothness of body.
Gaps between panels including bonnet, luggage booth, doors alignment.
All exterior accessories are expected and may be an asset to gain points. However owners must pay particular attention to the all-over aesthetics of the car and not over do it, otherwise the car will be posted to the Heavy Modified category.
Paintwork should be well kept and any colour is accepted. Judges will take particular attention for sprayed body kits or wheel arches.

Engine Bay
Clean engine bay decreased including bonnet.
Engine must be painted and clean. Cleanliness is essential on all parts of the engine.
Chromed engine parts are an asset and gain points. Wiring loom and hoses should be neatly routed.

Interior
Standard dashboard is expected but extra gauges , radio switches are an asset. Plastic dash fascia is allowed as long as accessories are not overdone. After market steering wheels can be an advantage.
All seat frames must be factory made but from any Mini model. All seats can be upholstered but front and rear seats must match including side panels.
Interior accessories can be an asset as long as aesthetics are taken into account.

Luggage Booth
Must be tidy, sprayed neatly but recover is an asset, spare wheel must be clean.
Any audio electrical connections and wiring systems must be well routed.
Jack and wheel brace must be present.
If luggage booth door is upholstered it may be considered an asset.

Loss of Marks
Marks will be deducted from section or overall markings, as the judge sees fit, due to:
Dirt around any part of the vehicle
Any loose article left in the vehicle which is not part of the same vehicle
Any dents, bumps, waves in metal or damaged bodywork or spray.
Any incorrect parts on original versions only.
Any damaged parts in any part of the vehicle.
Any eyesore parts or incompatible parts in any part of the vehicle


Heavy Modified

Bodywork Condition of smoothness of body.
Gaps between panels including bonnet, luggage booth, doors alignment.
All exterior accessories including chrome work, body kits, wheels, lighting, mirrors, tinted windows can be included and valuable items are an asset.
Paintwork should be well kept and any colour is accepted. Graphics can be an asset and body kits must be well maintained and painted.

Engine Bay
Clean engine bay decreased including bonnet (including bonnet).
Engine must be painted and clean. Cleanliness is essential on all parts of the engine.
Chromed engine parts are an asset and gain points. Wiring loom and hoses should be neatly routed.
Chrome engine parts are expected together with modified engine

Interior Dashboard must be up rated and valuable gauges, wood trim, consoles audio systems and steering wheel are major assets.
Any type of after market seats are an asset including side panels, carpets, harness and headlining.
Interior accessories are expected to be of high standard and match. These include door handles, speakers, electrics etc.

Luggage Booth
Must be tidy, sprayed neatly upholstered, battery cover is an asset. Spare wheel must be clean.
Any audio electrical connections and wiring systems must be well routed.
Jack and wheel brace must be present.
Luggage booth door is expected to be upholstered. Amplifier or any other in car entertainment is an asset.

Loss of Marks
Marks will be deducted from section or overall markings, as the judge sees fit, due to:
Dirt around any part of the vehicle
Any loose article left in the vehicle which is not part of the same vehicle
Any dents, bumps, waves in metal or damaged bodywork or spray.
Any incorrect parts on original versions only.
Any damaged parts in any part of the vehicle.
Any eyesore parts or incompatible parts in any part of the vehicle


Important

Owners are to register and pay the fee, before commencing of judging.
Late participants will only be allowed at the Committee's discretion.
Owners are not to distract the judges during judging time.
Owners are to be found when called and to stay with their vehicle during judging time, but keeping reasonable distance from the judge.
Results will not be discussed during the show, except between the Club's marshals and judges or with the owner when or if a problem of opinion arises.
The judges' decision will be final.
Arrogant behavior or carelessness of any kind, the participant will be disqualified.
Final rulings and decisions will be taken by the committee.
